     So I was asked to talk about how I feel on medicating children as young as 7 years old for ADHD.  Here is what I think about this:

      With the age being so young, I would use medications as a last resort.  There are other methods to help focus the child.  You can put him/or her in behavioural therapy which they could be taught how to be attentive.  Children with ADHD have a tendency to misbehave because their brain is working 100 mph and all over the place and some parents may think "oh my kid just ignores me or doesn't want to listen".  ADHD in children this young is pretty common, about 2-3%.

       What's the difference between ADD and ADHD?

      From what I have researched is the the term A.D.D. is generally all cases with people who suffer from A.D.H.D., the only difference is some may have hyper activity and be impulisive with actions and words( Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder). In both cases these indiviiduals ill have a hard time finishing tasks, and following direction, and listening.

      In the case if a child having ADD/ADHD, may result in a hard time to learn in school, to make friends, behaving at home.  In a result of misunderstood behaviour of just plain being bratty.  Have your child closely diagnosed by a professional and try everything possible before medication.   It is dangerous to be experimenting on doses to give your child as I have seen it for myself in my little nephew.  If all else fails be cautious, it is your child you know what is best for him/her.

      I was curious to know what other people thought on this topic so I asked a few people I knew and some answers I got were;

      "Just spank that child, then he will learn to behave."

      " Yes I would medicate my child"

      "I also agree to try therapy first then I would turn to medication"

      I can tell this is a very conrtoversial topic and many different views on this.  Always when it comes to health look at the pros and cons first in safety of your child.  Have a great day guys.
